Over the last year, it quietly became harder (sometimes impossible) to get real Jamaican products outside of Jamaica.

You either settled for whatever interpretation of Jamaica made it onto mass-market shelves, or you found someone on the island who could actually send you the real thing. Here, we get access to Marley designs that aren't offered abroad, we have classic dutchies and authentic spice bun.

 

Shipping is Tricky

The reality is simple: Jamaica doesn’t manufacture at scale. Like most countries, we rely on Asia. We don't have a factories and sweatshops, and we don't have a robust public sector that adapts quickly to sweeping international postal changes. Last year it became impossible to ship parcels directly to the US or route them through the US from Jamaica.

Classic Jamaican designs made of Chinese/Indian fabric couldn't leave via post. And private carriers? You could end up paying $40 to ship a $20 item- before duties. We didn't want to do that to you. We deliver vibes and value.

Supporting Jamaica, especially in these hard times, means returning money to real Jamaicans- not just buying brand Jamaica. It means paying Jamaican models, using Jamaican services and paying Jamaican companies if you can't visit the family owned brick and mortar stores. It means making sure the proceeds go to building Jamaica and paying back to a culture of love through hardship.
